Video Ducati’s Latest Track Weapon Monster 1200 R | BIKE TESTS

AMCN's Deputy & Road Test Editor Paul 'Youngy’ Young headed off to Spain to ride Ducati’s Monster 1200 R around the Ascari Circuit Resort to see if the big-bore supernaked can hack the track.

…“The Ascari Circuit is one of the smoothest tracks I have ever ridden on, but it also has some of the most extreme camber changes I have ever experienced,” Youngy said.

“There are also two chicanes where curb jumping is the quickest line. The Monster R soaked all this up with absolutely sublime control – those big wide bars just encourage you to slam the bike side to side. Even with all this going on, the R never shook its head or got out of shape, no doubt also helped by the addition of the adjustable Öhlins steering damper.

“Since taking up this job at AMCN two years ago I have had the pleasure of riding many modern Dukes, and the Monster 1200 R is yet another one which has impressed the hell out me. If you are in the market for an occasional trackday bike or sporty roadster, but don’t want the compromises of a race replica, take a look at this machine. It’s got ample comfort, bags of character, and two big fists full of fun. It could be just the beast you’re looking for.” – Paul Young, AMCN Road Test Editor
