A supercharged 450cc single, revolutionary aerodynamics and a tantalising 100hp target… AMCN gets exclusive in depth access to a radical British project that could rewrite the motorcycle rulebook.

Forget everything you thought you knew about motorcycle design. A small team of British engineers has created a machine so radically different that it could change the way motorcycles are built, powered and pushed through the air.

And AMCN has been given an extensive behind-the-scenes look.

Meet the White Motorcycle Concepts Mono RR, an extraordinary supercharged single-cylinder track weapon that takes one of the world’s most focused race bikes and turns conventional engineering wisdom on its head.

Its creators are chasing a mouthwatering target: 100hp (75kW) from a machine weighing just 100kg. But the real revolution isn’t simply what powers it. It’s what passes straight through it.

At the heart of the Mono RR is a patented aerodynamic duct running directly through the motorcycle, from nose to tail. Rather than forcing air around the machine, the system channels it through the middle, dramatically reducing resistance without demanding an impossibly uncomfortable riding position.

The numbers are already raising eyebrows.

Computer simulations suggest the Mono RR produces 16.4 per cent less aerodynamic drag than its donor machine, the already formidable Krämer EVO 690R. Even more remarkably, predicted downforce increases by 77 per cent.

Less drag AND more downforce? That’s the sort of combination that usually has aerodynamicists scratching their heads.

Making it possible required some equally unconventional thinking beneath the bodywork.

Out went the Krämer’s muscular KTM 690 single. In came a compact 450cc Yamaha motocross engine, complete with a specially developed Rotrex supercharger.

The smaller engine frees up precious space for that enormous aerodynamic tunnel while forced induction promises to restore – and eventually exceed – the performance sacrificed by downsizing.

It’s a fascinating marriage of motocross mechanicals, cutting-edge aerodynamic technology and serious motorsport expertise, with specialists from Britain’s Formula 1 heartland helping bring the concept to life.

And here’s the really intriguing part: White Motorcycle Concepts isn’t necessarily interested in becoming another motorcycle manufacturer.

Instead, the company hopes its technology will convince established brands that smaller, supercharged engines and radically improved aerodynamics could deliver the next generation of faster, lighter and more efficient motorcycles.

Whether that vision ultimately reaches production remains to be seen, but the Mono RR is already making a compelling case.

In the upcoming issue of AMCN, Ben Purvis takes readers deep inside this remarkable project, revealing the engineering breakthroughs, extraordinary packaging solutions and aerodynamic secrets behind a motorcycle that could genuinely change everything.

And trust us, there’s plenty more to this machine than meets the eye.
