Impressive Start to 2019 for Bayliss and Cube Racing

Oli Bayliss became the youngest rider to podium in Australian Supersport history over the weekend, when the 15-year-old rode to a 4-3-4 finish after qualifying fourth with a time of 1:37.340 at Phillip Island for the first round of the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK).

Team owner, Ben Henry: “That was a great weekend for Oli. At 15, he has a lot to learn, but his talent on a bike goes without saying. I’m really proud to see him grow as rider with Cube Racing, and third overall in his first SuperSport race weekend is amazing. When you meet Oli, you can’t help but like him and his cheeky attitude, but when it’s time to race, he’s motivated, serious and is developing into a great racer.”

Oli Bayliss: “I’m really happy with that result. I knew I would be able to race near the lead group, but to finish with a podium is awesome. I made some mistakes, and had a few moments out on track, but was able to keep my head, stay with the riders around me and keep pushing. Riding the 600 is so much fun. I’m learning a lot every time I ride the bike and I’m lucky to have a great team and sponsors behind me this year.”
