Triumph’s Speed Triple has been an icon of the nakedbike scene since it appeared in 1994.  It wasn’t until 2005 that Triumph released the fourth generation of Speed Triples, this time  with a 1050cc engine. Strong and smooth power delivery has long been a hallmark of the in-line three-cylinder mill and the 2016 incarnation utilises the latest tech, including ride-by-wire, slip-assist clutch and switchable ABS and traction control with five rider modes. The minimalist bodywork has remained sharp and edgy over the years, making the Speed Triple a perennial eye-catcher.

What it’s got

The Speed Triple is powered by a liquid-cooled, 1050cc, three-cylinder, fuel-injected, four-stroke engine. It drives through a wet slipper clutch and six-speed gearbox.

The front suspension is a 43mm fully adjustable Öhlins NIX30 USD fork with 120mm of travel. Rear suspension is an Öhlins TTX twin tube monoshock, fully adjustable with 130mm of travel. Switchable ABS assisted braking is handled by two 320mm discs on the front wheel, clamped by four-piston radial-mount Brembo calipers, and a 255mm disc at the rear with a Nissin single two-piston caliper. The fuel tank holds 15.5 litres.
