DAM Classic Racing record | SPORT

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Laverda Motorcycles, DAM Classic Racing has set an official Australian record for 500cc P-PC motorcycles at Lake Gairdner, South Australia. Company owner Greg Parish put son Angus on a  1977 pre-balance-shaft 500cc Alpina twin. The 29-year-old hit 113.859mph on its first run. The bike was impounded overnight and then it ran again at 108.663mph. The overall result was an official record of 111.261mph. Pretty damn good for an air-cooled, parallel twin in totally standard trim made 42 years ago.
