Clarke and O’Brien set the pace as WA state titles ignite at Wanneroo

Sunday 1st June saw the running of the third round of the ‘SYNERGY SURVEYS’ State Road Racing Championships at CARCO.com.au Raceway. The weather was perfect despite the forecast initially being quite the opposite and the racing was some of the best seen for many years.

The ‘Dynapumps’ Superbike Championship got the day’s racing underway and it was Sam Clarke (Pullella Earthmoving Suzuki GSXR1000RR) who continued his dominance with three all-the-way wins on the day. He was never troubled on the day and has built himself a handy lead at the halfway point of the season. Second on the day was Bronson Pickett (Go Moto Store Yamaha R1) with two second and a third place and he moves into fourth place in the championship. Third on the day was Jayden Martin (Aussie Moto Engineering Yamaha R1) who is on a mid-season break from his racing in BSB; he took a sixth, fourth and second placing on the day. Defending champion Ben Stronach (Grundfos Yamaha R1) was fourth on the day with Adam Senior (Senior Engineering Yamaha R1) rounding out the top five.

Championship points are Sam Clarke first with 187 points, second Ben Stronach with 134 points, third Adam Senior on 124 points and fourth Bronson Pickett on 122 points. Ross Hudson (Track Action Yamaha R1) rounds out the top five with 115 points.

In the ‘RS Contracting’ Superbike ‘C’ Grade Series Andrew Shields (Yamaha R1) took the round win with two wins and 50 points, second was Jason Keenehan (Trakdayz Kawasaki ZX-10) with 40 points and Mitchell Carr (Campbell Road Automotive & Motorcycles Honda CBR1000RR-R SP) was third for the round with 36 points.

In the ‘Cully’s Yamaha’ Supersport Championship Callum O’Brien (Road 2 Race Kawasaki ZX-6R) is the runaway championship leader with another three wins for this round. Second was Jordan White (Five Star Yamaha R6) with three second places with Adam Senior (Senior Engineering Honda CBR600RR) with a third and two fourth places. Like Clarke in the Superbikes, O’Brien has built a solid championship lead with 200 points. Second is White with 158 points with Senior rounding out the top three on 140 points.

In the ‘Northside Motorcycles WA’ Supersport ‘C’ Grade Series Hayden Treversh (Turn 1 Motorsports Kawasaki ZX-6R) took the round win with 64 points. Second was Ryan McGovern (Torque Spec Yamaha R6) with 62 points and third was Ryan Pietsch (Go Moto Store Yamaha R6) with 58 points. Treversh leads the Series after three rounds with 184 points, second is McGovern on 152 points with Pietsch rounding out the top three with 138 points.

The ‘Turn 1 Motorsports’ Junior Road Racing State Championship had their opening round of the season at this round and it was a small but talented group of riders that greeted the starter. Four of the five riders are also competing over East in various ASBK classes. Rossi McAdam (Mar17tin Coaching Yamaha R15) made a clean sweep of the three races for a perfect score to kick off the championship. Second was Joel Jenzen (Liquid Army Yamaha R15) with two seconds and a third place. Third was Orlando Peovitis (Dad Yamaha R15) with a second, third and fourth places. Stevie Middlebrook (Mar17tin Coaching Yamaha R15) was fourth and Leo Darling (Clarke Coaching Yamaha R15) rounded out the five.

The ‘SBK IMPORTS’ Clubman Series again saw Luke Whillians (Marechal Electric Australia Yamaha R1) and Will Power (Track Action Yamaha R1) dominate at the front of the field with Whillians taking the chequered flag in the first two races with Power taking the final race. Craig Hutchinson (MINTOX Racing Ducati Panigale V2) rounded out the top three in the 1000cc class with two third and seventh place. Best of the 600 class was Angelo Antoni (Campbell Road Automotive & Motorcycles Honda CBR600RR) with three fourth places overall.

The ‘flashpixx.net’ Sidecar Championship saw Darren Nash / Cooper Mapstone (RHR Kawasaki ZX-10R) dominate as they have done all season with three strong wins for a perfect 75 points. Graeme Evans / Robert Dillon (RHR Kawasaki ZX-10) took two second place and an unfortunate DNF when they spun out at T7 whilst challenging for the lead with Nash & Mapstone. Robert & Hamish Taylor (Turret Engineering Suzuki LCR) and Murray Stronach / Darryl McLeod (Turnapart Engineering Suzuki GSXR1000) both ran in the top three with Stronach / McLeod having a DNF in the final race with a mechanical failure. Nash / Mapstone won the round with 75 points, second were Robert & Hamish Taylor with 55 points and third overall on the day were Steven McQueen / Max Perrin (Coppin Road Customs Watson F2) with 47 points. Nash / Mapstone lead the championship with 200 points, second are Robert & Hamish Taylor with 141 points and third are Stronach / McLeod with 123 points. McQueen / Perrin lead the F2 class with 93 points.

In the ‘Campbell Road Automotive & Motorcycles’ Production Championship three riders dominated at the front of the field: Joel Jenzen (Liquid Army Yamaha R3), Jason Keenehan (Lofty’s Race Paint Honda CBR250RR) and Rossi McAdam (Mar17tin Coaching Yamaha R3). Keenehan took the win in Race 1 from Jenzen and McAdam. In the second it was Jenzen from Keenehan and McAdam and in the final race it was again Jenzen at the front from McAdam with Keenehan in third place. Jenzen won the day with 70 points, second was Keenehan with 63 points and third was McAdam with 56 points. Jenzen leads the Championship with 159 points.

In the ‘ON Track Motorcycles’ Production Lights Series Tahlia Lang (Kawasaki Ninja 300) took the round win with 65 points. Rob Wheeler (Waroona Electrical Services Kawasaki Ninja 300) leads the Series with 156 points.
