Road Racing Association Australia body created to promote the interests of participants, owners and administrators
Road Racing Association Australia is a new collective voice launched last week by several key figures in the ASBK paddock with the aim of promoting the interests of competitors and team owners to the sports administrators. Addicted to Track team owner and founding chair of the organisation, Mark McGregor, said the concept is not new, but this time proper steps have been taken to formalise the new group.
Membership will cost $50 per year and meetings are intended to be held mostly online to avoid disruptions during a race weekend. With a key focus on transparency within the sport, members will be invited to air their views and engage in open forums to build consensus on key issues.
McGregor said he felt there is often a disconnect between key stakeholders in the sport and the administrators, Motorcycling Australia. “This is a perfect way for us to show our value as a paddock. It’s an idea that’s been floated for a long time, but I decided to make the leap and formalise the process. There are competitors and team owners who simply don’t have the time to be involved in the decision-making process or they don’t want to stick their head up to voice their opinion. This organisation will create a solution for that.”
