WSBK in India?

The prospect of an Indian round of the Superbike World Championship has once again been mooted, potentially making good on a promise the series would have a race at the Buddh Circuit.

Flights were almost booked a couple of years ago when India appeared on a provisional calendar, but despite there still being a ‘live’ place for it in the schedule (and cancelled each year), it will only go ahead when a solution is found to a bizarre requirement.

Currently, in a form of market protectionism, it appears necessary for the equivalent value of every import or product arriving in India to be given over to the government, to be held in a form of bond, until all the material is taken back out of the country again.

This means the paddock would have to find its own entire worth, to be held in trust, before being allowed in for the race weekend.
