MotoMini expands to new countries ahead of November showdown

The FIM MotoMini World Series is expanding as more countries join the roster, cementing the championship as a genuine path to MotoGP.

It’s been announced that there will be 24 160cc Series held – including the additions of Thailand, India and Latin America – and 16 190cc Series. This year, new 190cc Series will launch in Canada, Northeast Asia and the Phillippines, as a 190cc Series can only be run once a 160cc competition has completed.

As before, the top riders from each Series will be invited to take part in the 2026 World Final, which takes place ahead of the MotoGP season finale in Valencia on 22-26 November.

The Australian MiniGP program leads to the FIM series

The 2026 series ambassadors include Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP), Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) and Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing).

Motorcycling Australia CEO Peter Doyle says the expansion of the international series, along with the growing Australian MiniGP program, is a sign of the times.

“From a local point of view it’s not only a fiercely contested domestic championship – with official Australian junior road race status – but also the starting point of a genuine international pathway.

“Australian riders are now really starting to make their mark on the World Final in Valencia, too, which is testament to the quality of the local programme.”

The FIM MotoMini World Series, envisaged to be the first step on the ‘Road to MotoGP’, began in 2021.

Last year Australia was represented by Judd Plaisted and Jake Paige in the 190cc class, and Chaz Williams and Austin Attard in the 160cc class, mentored by ex-ASBK champion Wayne Maxwell.

Plaisted finished fifth overall after coming second in Race 1, fifth in Race 2 and 11th in the Superfinal while  Paige ended up 17th after several crashes derailed his effort. Williams finished 10th and Attard 17th with both making the Superfinal.
