New model betrayed in emissions filings
Way back in January we discovered design registrations from Ducati showing an unidentified version of the Diavel V4 that shared elements of the standard model and combined them with parts from the more exotic Diavel V4 RS. We speculated that it could be a new Diavel V4 S model, and that appears to be precisely what Ducati is brewing for 2027.
New emissions filings in California confirm that the company’s 2027 Diavel lineup will contain the standard, bike alongside the new Diavel V4 S and a reinstated pair of ‘Diavel for Bentley’ limited-edition models. The ‘Diavel for Bentley’ has been done before, back in 2023, just as Ducati has made ‘Lamborghini’ tie-ins based on the Streetfighter V4 and Panigale V4. They all sold out rapidly despite sky-high prices so it’s no surprise that Ducati is looking to repeat the idea. As before, the two Bentley models are the standard ‘Diavel for Bentley’ – which in the original run was limited to 500 examples – and a ‘Diavel for Bentley Mulliner’ edition. If Ducati follows its previous pattern, the Mulliner version will be much more limited, originally there were only 50 bikes made, and only available to confirmed Bentley car customers who are likely to be able to spec the bikes to match their cars.
What the CARB emissions filings tell us is that the Diavel V4, the V4 S, and the Bentley models will all share identical engine specs, so there’s no performance sacrifice in having the standard bike.
The previous design drawings suggest the S version will get the revised side air intakes from the Diavel V4 RS (which doesn’t appear in these emissions listings because it has the more exotic, desmo-valved Desmosedici Stradale engine, derived from the Panigale V4’s motor, instead of the standard Diavel’s Granturismo V4) plus electronically-adjustable suspension and a new ten-spoke wheel design.
