Rea Makes It Four From Four | SPORT | WSBK

Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) scored his 42nd race win with a commanding performance in a race that was shortened to 16-laps and restarted after a red flag in the first when Lorenzo Savadori (Milwaukee Aprilia) lost oil from his bike and then crashed hard.

Over four seconds behind the perfect scoring Rea a battle between Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) and Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) ended with Sykes once more getting the best of his returning WorldSBK rival.

Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) had a second strong finish of the weekend in fourth place. Jordi Torres (Althea BMW Racing Team) had a fifth place and had to work for it at the end, keeping a factory Ducati behind him on the final laps.

Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) had crashed on lap three in the first running and got back into the pack in dead last. He stared from the back of the grid and worked his way back up to sixth, but could get past the stubborn Torres.

With several top riders out Nicky Hayden (Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team) scored better than he may have expected in seventh, while privateer rider Xavi Fores (Barni Racing Ducati) was eighth, Roman Ramos (Team GOELEVEN Kawasaki) ninth and Markus Reiterberger (Althea BMW Racing Team) tenth.

Eugene Laverty (Milwaukee Aprilia) placed 15th, after a crash from a good position and a restart. Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) retired and Stefan Bradl (Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team) crashed.

In the championship Rea has a perfect 100 after his four wins, Davies is second with 70 and Sykes is in third with 62 points. Lowes has 49, in fourth place.
