Product Recall – Yamaha MT09 and XSR900 Motorcycles | NEWS

Yamaha is issuing a worldwide recall on several three-cylinder models over an issue with the lower handlebar possibly becoming loose.

Which Models are recalled?

Yamaha Motorcycle models MT09 and XSR900 , sold 10 July 2013- 11 April 2017

What are the defects?

The lower handlebar holder may have been manufactured with improper paint application. Additionally, thread locking agent may not have been adequately applied to the stud bolt thread in the lower handlebar holder. Strong external impact may abrade the paint film causing axial force on the stud bolt.

What are the hazards?

With engine vibration, the stud may loosen and fall off, resulting in loss of control.

What should consumers do?

Consumers will be contacted by direct mail. Consumers should contact their local Yamaha dealer to arrange an inspection and repair of the motorcycle.
