Factory and Prima Pramac team machines unveiled, including Jack Miller’s 2025-spec YZR-M1
Yamaha has entered a new era with key changes to its factory team and a fresh technical partnership. The Prima Pramac Racing team, fresh off a historic 2024 campaign where Jorge Martin delivered their first MotoGP Riders’ World Championship title, unveiled a revised livery dominated by title sponsor Prima Assicurazioni’s purple alongside flashes of blue on their 2025 factory YZR-M1s.
This collaboration with Yamaha comes as part of a wider restructuring for the manufacturer, which has also seen changes in the leadership of its primary factory team, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP. Lin Jarvis, who had overseen Yamaha’s racing program since 1999, has stepped down as Team Principal, with Paolo Pavesio taking over. Jarvis will remain involved as a Senior Advisor. Yamaha’s evolving strategy, including its new alliance with Pramac, aims to bolster its competitiveness by sharing technical resources and data between the two factory teams while broadening its development capacity.
Miller, a veteran with nine podiums during his earlier stint with Pramac, joins the team after several seasons away to provide critical feedback for Yamaha’s development. Oliveira, meanwhile, brings multiple MotoGP victories to the table but will be looking to regain form after struggling with injuries in recent seasons. Both riders will begin official testing of the new machine at Sepang in the coming days before the season-opening race in Thailand.
In parallel, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP retained riders Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins for the upcoming season, unveiling their refreshed YZR-M1 livery as part of Yamaha’s “Blue Shift” theme. Quartararo, the 2021 World Champion, begins the season highly motivated after extensive pre-season training, while Rins, who joined Yamaha in 2024, is eager to regain confidence after recovering from injury. Yamaha hopes the arrival of Pramac as a second factory team and the broader collaboration will help improve results as the brand seeks a return to regular contention for victories and titles.
Prima Pramac has also brought in new technical staff, including crew chiefs Giacomo Guidotti and Luca Ferraccioli, to guide Miller and Oliveira, respectively. Team Principal Paolo Campinoti and Director Gino Borsoi have expressed optimism about the squad’s ability to build on its recent success, but adapting to a new machine and maintaining competitiveness in MotoGP’s fiercely competitive environment presents a daunting task.
Fabio Quartararo, Monster Energy Yamaha – “We are starting a new season for MotoGP and a new chapter for Yamaha. As a MotoGP rider you’re always excited to start the new season, try the new bike, see the new livery in action – and I have to say that I do really like the new livery and the extra blue; I think it will look good on track. However, this time the first test is even more exciting for us because Yamaha is about to begin a big project together with Pramac. I know everyone is super eager to start working together at the preseason tests, and this in turn makes me even more motivated. I’ve been training non-stop, so I’m at a good level. I think I’m the fittest I’ve ever been, and I can’t wait to start preseason testing. The sooner we start, the sooner we can go racing, and the sooner we see the fans cheering for us again.”
Jack Miller, Prima Pramac Yamaha – “I am so excited to finally start the season. The test we had in Barcelona in November was just to dip our toes in the water, but now the real work begins. I have had a lot of contact with the guys while they were in Japan working on the M1 and from what I have been told we have a lot of new and interesting ideas and parts to try out. The guys seem very excited about this new adventure with Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP and the same can be said for me. I can’t wait to get on the bike and work hard, trying to make the steps in the right direction to be ready from the first race in Thailand. “Coming back to Pramac Racing after a few years is fantastic for me. You all know that I have a great relationship with Paolo Campinoti and he, as well as Gino and all the other guys, welcomed me back with open arms. It’s a new project for most of us, but it’s so much nicer to start a new challenge like this surrounded by so many familiar faces, rather than having to learn new names. “I feel whole and truly at home, and let’s hope I have as good a time now, if not better, than in my previous years here.
Miguel Oliveira, Prima Pramac Yamaha – “The start of a new season is always a special moment, and I am highly motivated for this new challenge with Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP. The team‘s achievement last year in winning the MotoGP Riders Championship was a perfect demon stration of how dedication, hard work, and passion can make all the difference and lead to the ultimate success. This team is exceptionally competitive, and with Yamaha’s strong support, I am confident that we can embark on a long-term project that will achieve significant success in a relatively short time. “I am thrilled to see how this challenge unfolds and can’t wait to get on the bike and begin work during the winter tests in Malaysia and Thailand. My goal is to be as prepared as possible for the start of the season. I am incredibly grateful to Paolo Campinoti, Pramac Racing, and Yamaha for this opportunity, and I promise to give them my absolute best. “The past two seasons have been tough for me, both physically and mentally. Recovering from serious injuries is always challenging, as it takes time to regain consistency and rhythm. Having a strong connection with your crew is also fundamental, and in the short time I‘ve spent with Luca Ferraccioli, my new track engineer, I already feel that we have great chemistry. This harmony will be key as we work together to make the most of the season ahead.
Álex Rins, Monster Energy Yamaha – “We all came together at the 2025 Yamaha MotoGP Launch Event – Yamaha Motor Company, Yamaha Motor Racing, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP, Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP, and BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 – and you can tell it’s a big occasion and a key point for Yamaha’s participation in MotoGP: it’s racing history in the making. The motivation is high within Yamaha, the new teams, and also in our team. I think there’s a real excitement for what’s to come. The 2024 season was not easy, but what happened in 2024 is already in the past, and now it’s 2025 and we have the full support of Yamaha and the help of the new Pramac team to spur things on this year. I’ve have spent the preseason working hard and training a lot to jump on the bike at my maximum level at the first test in Sepang. I’m excited and impatient for the season to start!”
