Jack Miller and Yamaha announce their MotoGP partnership will come to an end at the close of the 2026 season
Jack Miller and Yamaha have confirmed they will end their MotoGP partnership at the conclusion of the 2026 world championship, closing out the Australian’s time with the Prima Pramac Yamaha squad.
In a statement, Yamaha said Miller had brought valuable experience and technical expertise to its MotoGP development program during an important period of growth and transformation. The manufacturer also highlighted his commitment beyond grand prix racing through his appearances in the 2025 and 2026 Suzuka 8 Hours, describing him as a rider who showed exceptional team spirit and dedication to Yamaha’s wider racing ambitions.
The move had been widely expected, with Miller’s MotoGP future appearing increasingly limited as teams look to the next wave of talent from Moto2. Miller is now widely tipped to move to the WorldSBK paddock next year, while most of the remaining GP rides are expected to go to younger riders coming through the intermediate class. Australian Senna Agius is among those in the mix and could yet find himself in line for a Tech3 seat. Miller could be one of several GP riders moving to WorldSBK next year, with Binder, Vinales, Rins, Morbidelli and others still looking for rides in 2027.
‘Thriller’ Miller will leave with a memorable record that includes four premier class wins and a reputation as one of the paddock’s toughest and most popular racers. His greatest upset came at Assen in 2016, when he scored a shock wet weather win for Marc VDS Honda and became the first Australian since Casey Stoner to win in MotoGP.
He later developed into a consistent front runner with Ducati, scoring multiple podiums with Pramac before winning twice in 2021 with the factory team and finishing fourth in the championship. He added another victory in Japan in 2022 before later spells with KTM and Yamaha.
Yamaha thanked Miller for his professionalism, dedication and contribution to the project, and wished him every success for the future.
