Victory for Scaysbrook at Pikes Peak | SPORT

Former AMCN staffer Rennie Scaysbrook has claimed victory at the 2019 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb aboard his 2018 Aprilia Tuono.

Despite smashing the previous record held by Chris Fillmore, and beating his own best time to the summit, Scaysbrooks win was overshadowed by the tragic death of fellow competitor and friend Carlin Dunne just metres from the finish line. Carlin had set the pace on his prototype Ducati V4 Streetfighter, with a qualifying time five seconds quicker than Scaysbrook.

“I wasn’t the fastest guy at Pikes Peak this year; Carlin Dunne was,” Scaysbrook said. “Carlin was on another level.”

None-the-less Scaybrook beat his own personal best time by a whopping 14 seconds on his way to his first win on the Aprilia and now holds the heavyweight category record at the iconic hill climb event.
