TOBY PRICE CLAIMS FIFTH FINKE VICTORY | SPORT

KTM's Toby Price has ridden to a record-equalling five Tatts Finke Desert Race wins.

The victory by Toby Price from Aberglasslyn in NSW sees him equal the record number of wins achieved by former Alice Springs rider Randall Gregory. The win was even more remarkable given that Price had chosen to add to the degree of difficulty by also competing in the 4-wheel division driving a Trophy Truck and coming home in second position before tackling the return leg of the bike competition.

Aboard the his KTM 500 EXC, Price completed the total two-day distance of 452 kilometres in 3h46m55s (Day 1: 1hr 53m 19s – Day 2: 1hr 53m 35s). Price beat his 2015 time of 3h52m54s, making his ride this year even more special. The four previous victories achieved by Price were in 2015, 2014, 2012, and 2010.

Tye Simmonds finished second aboard his KTM 500 EXC, equalling his result from last year. His total time for the event was 3 hours 49 minutes and 42 seconds. (Day 1: 1hr 55m 53s – Day 2: 1hr 53m 49s)

Completing the KTM trifecta, Alice Springs rider David Walsh, also on a KTM 500 EXC took 3 hours 52 minutes and 11 seconds. (Day 1: 1hr 57m 07s – Day 2: 1hr 55m 04s)

First Honda home was ridden by Alice Springs competitor Daymon Stokie aboard his Honda CRF 450R placing fourth, with Beau Ralston from Kurri Kurri in NSW coming home in fifth on the #7 Yamaha YZF 450.
