Toprak wins with record breaking pace but Bautista steals the show with Most charge through the field

Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) overcame an initial flurry of instant pace and determination from championship leader Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) to take what most expected would have been his win in Race One at Most.

He set a new lap record of 1’31.109 on lap ten as he eased away from his great 2025 season rival. Toprak ended up over six seconds ahead at the flag.

Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team Ducati) placed third, some ten seconds back from the winning pace of BMW’s reigning World Champion.

A season best for the new bimota KB998 saw Alex Lowes secure fourth place, overcoming his brother Sam, who would eventually finish sixth in his Marc VDS Ducati.

In fifth at the flag Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) had the race of the day (aside from Razgatlioglu of course) as he came from a near faller in the chicane on lap one in an effective fashion. The way he carved through the field from 16th at one point to 5th begs the question of how competetive he could be if he starts better tomorrow.

With Sam Lowes sixth, Iker Lecuona (Honda HRC) was seventh and the newly rejuvenated Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team Ducati) placed eighth.

The top ten was rounded out by the second works Honda of Xavi Vierge and top Yamaha finisher Jonathan Rea (Pata Maxus Yamaha).

Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) and Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) clashed in the first chicane, in the incident that almost claimed Bautista too.

Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) had a season-best 11th in Race One, but Aussie rider Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) did not finish the race.

With today’s commanding Race 1 victory, Toprak Razgatlioglu narrows the gap in the championship chase, now sitting second overall with 189 points behind leader Nicolo Bulega on 218. Meanwhile, Alvaro Bautista’s strong comeback ride to fifth sees him hold onto third in the standings with 136 points ahead of Petucci on 123.

P1 – Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team)
“This was a very important victory because we started the weekend really strong. I’ve really missed this feeling. The wind was very strong today so at the beginning of the race I was trying to adapt my riding style but once I found my rhythm I had a fast pace. This win means a lot. We’ve improved the bike a lot but we still need more. We have two more races tomorrow and I hope we can win again.”

P2 – Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati)
“I tried to fight at the beginning. But when Toprak overtook me, I could understand after just a few corners that he had something extra today. I’m happy because second place is a very good result, especially after yesterday’s crash. It wasn’t easy to finish the race so I have to be happy and proud of what we achieved, both myself and the team.”

P3 – Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team)
“I tried to follow my strategy and hold onto third position because Nicolo and Toprak were a bit faster. They weren’t much faster but I was taking risks to stay with them. When I saw the gap behind me was increasing I decided to manage my pace. It wasn’t easy—this track has so many direction changes, and my back and arms were really suffering. This is a great podium for my team. I’m so happy, we’re working really well together, and this result is well deserved. Let’s see what we can do tomorrow.”
