The 2017 Nitro World Games stormed Salt Lake City in an epic competition that saw enormous and literal highs and constant edge-of-your-seat action.
Arguably the biggest story of the night was Ryan Williams, the only athlete in the competition to make the finals in two events in two disciplines. R-Willy took home the win in Scooter Best Tricks and BMX Best Tricks and is officially the first competitor to ever win multiple events at Nitro World Games.
In the FMX Best Trick finale, Harry Bink took a hard crash on an attempt at a rock solid frontflip. He was a bit rattled, but he hopped back on his bike, straightened out his alignment against a kicker, and went for it again, landing the World First, taking home the trophy, and making history. In addition to Williams in BMX Best Tricks, Levi Sherwood (Freestyle Motocross), Elliot Sloan (Skate Best Trick), and Colton Walker (BMX Triple Hit) all repeated as champions. Sherwood’s flawless run was anchored by a huge nac-nac double backflip, an incredible way to punch his double back card.

BMX phenom Brian Fox had redemption in mind this year. He had to scratch before the Triple Hit semis in 2016 after winning the qualifier. This time, he made the podium with a third-place finish. Javier Villegas finished second in FMX following a year of hard work, spurred by what he called a disappointing finish last year. His second-place finish in FMX is a testament to the fact that hard work and focus pays off.
Beaver Fleming made the skate podium with a second-place finish, which surprised no one who’s been following him this year. Skate legend Andy Macdonald took home third place in skate.
