The Isle of Man TT has confirmed that debut rider Daniel Ingham lost his life in an incident during Wednesday practice. He was an experienced Mountain Course competitor and the 2024 Senior Manx Grand Prix winner
The Isle of Man TT has confirmed that Daniel Ingham has died following a crash during Wednesday’s practice and qualifying programme. He was 33.
Wednesday evening’s session was stopped with a red flag after a crash involving the Crowe brothers in the Sidecar session. At the time, organisers also said a separate incident had taken place during the evening qualifying sessions, with further details to follow.
Organisers have now confirmed that Ingham was killed in an incident at Doran’s Bend on the opening lap of Wednesday evening’s third qualifying session. He was making his TT debut.
While this was his first Isle of Man TT, Ingham had extensive experience on the Mountain Course. He began competing in the Manx Grand Prix in 2016 and went on to win the Senior Manx Grand Prix in 2024.
In a statement, organisers said: “The Isle of Man TT Races regrets to confirm that Daniel Ingham, 33, from Melton Mowbray, was killed in an incident during qualifying yesterday at the Isle of Man TT Races.
“The accident occurred at Doran’s Bend, on the first lap of the third qualifying session.
“Daniel made his Mountain Course debut in 2016 as a competitor in the Manx Grand Prix before graduating to the Isle of Man TT Races.
“He had achieved a number of podium finishes during his 10 years’ experience of competing, most notably achieving a 1st place in the 2024 Senior Manx Grand Prix.
“The Isle of Man TT Races pass on their deepest sympathy to his wife, Helayna, and his son Joey and daughter Phoebe, as well as his family and friends.”
Ingham’s death is the first fatality at the TT in two years. It follows a separate fatal accident on the island last weekend during the Pre-TT Classic Road Races at the Billown circuit.
The event has also been affected by serious incidents in the Sidecar class. Following the Crowe brothers’ crash on Wednesday evening, organisers announced on Thursday that the Sidecar class had been suspended for the rest of the event.
That decision came after another serious Sidecar incident on Tuesday evening involving Maria Costello, who remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The TT is due to continue on Friday with the final qualifying sessions, before racing begins on Saturday with the opening Superstock race. The first Sidecar race had also been scheduled for Saturday.
