Morgan Park dumped?
Road Racing Association Australia is an initiative started by Addicted to Track’s Mark McGregor with the intention of giving racers and teams a voice in ASBK decision making. With over 50 members, their second meeting was held online at the end of June. The main topics of discussion were safety and scheduling. The general consensus was that Morgan Park is not up to standard for Superbike racing and an effort will be made to have several senior riders appointed to a safety advisory role within the association. Other topics considered were compressing the season schedule, with particular consideration given to the practical implementation of a summer series. Most of the ideas put forward have been voiced previously; now McGregor has the task of communicating what members want with MA to achieve a result.
What’s Robbie up to?
Rumours persist that Stop & Seal team members want to go racing with Ducati next year and Craig McMartin is on their hit list, apparently. The move is at odds with Stop & Seal’s team boss Robbie Bolger’s desire to go pure road racing, with the team officially posting for expressions of interest to compete in the Macau GP later this year as part of their collab with Faye Ho. The Ducati V4 R isn’t seen as the machine of choice for street racing. In other news from Stop & Seal, Tom Toparis is hopefully on the mend after undergoing surgery for his injured back and we could possibly see him in action at Qld Raceway.
Mate vs mate
Could there be some tension mounting in the Stop & Seal garage between Archie McDonald and Jack Mahaffy? Mahaffy, the current points leader, mentioned several times that McDonald’s bike was of a higher spec than his own, while McDonald couldn’t help but highlight Mahaffy’s mistakes in the five-lap sprint in race two. Running interference is Tommy Edwards, who has had to weather drama of his own after parting with the Motoschool team. Edwards was an unexplained no-show at Qld Raceway before announcing he would be joining the Brian Wood-led Team BWR and switching to Supersport, making an immediate podium impact.
