Cru Halliday backed up pole position with a brilliant win at Queensland Raceway, as Harrison Voight became the youngest ASBK champion since Anthony Gobert

Cru Halliday won a thrilling 16-lap contest at Queensland Raceway, defeating Harrison Voight by just 0.476s, with Mike Jones completing the podium after leading the early laps. Voight’s second place was enough to secure the 2026 ASBK title after an aggressive ride that included a new lap record of 1:07.093.

Mike Jones made a superb launch and led the field through the opening laps, with the front runners immediately settling into a pace well under last year’s lap record benchmark. Josh Waters also made a strong start and quickly moved into contention near the front, as the lead group established an intense early rhythm.

Jones looked strong at the front in the opening phase before Halliday and Voight began to turn the race in their favour. Waters ran strongly in fourth, but Voight was in no mood to settle for a conservative points ride, putting hard pass on Waters that resulted in contact between the teammates as he pushed toward the front.

Halliday then lunged underneath Jones for the lead at Ducati corner, pushing the both wide and allowing Voight to get past the Yamaha rider as well. Voight then set off after Halliday as Craig McMartin watched on nervously, willing his young charge not to make a crucial error with the championship within their grasp.

Voight closed in on the rear of the Stop & Seal Racing Ducati, but Halliday stayed composed under pressure, maintaining his advantage over the closing laps to seal a fantastic win after starting from pole.

At the flag, Halliday took victory by 0.476s over Voight, with Jones 1.797s back in third. Waters held on for fourth, while Glenn Allerton and Jonathan Nahlous completed a top six covered by less than four seconds. Further back, Cameron Dunker, Jack Favelle, Anthony West and Olly Simpson rounded out the top 10.

While Halliday celebrated his 5th ASBK race win, second place was enough for Voight to secure the 2026 ASBK Championship, becoming the second-youngest rider ever to win the title after Anthony Gobert and confirming his place as one of Australian superbike racing’s brightest rising stars.

With one race remaining, Harrison Voight sits on 218 points, with Josh Waters secure in second with 191 points. The fight for third is still alive though, with Cru Halliday just one point ahead of Cameron Dunker on 161 points. Mike Jones sits fifth on 147 points.

Harrison Voight
“Australian Superbike champion sounds pretty good and feels even better to get it done the first race. Gosh, it’s been a nerve-wracking weekend. I’ve felt all the emotions and just since the start of the week. So a big thank you to everyone that’s helped me get it. It’s been a tough run the past couple of years, and to achieve this, like, the younger me would be blown away. The first time I started road racing, I was always watching Josh, Troy Herfoss, Troy Bayliss, all those people, and I always idolized those people. So to even be teammates and race against Josh, it’s been a pleasure. I take my hat off to Josh. He’s helped me a lot the past couple of years, just being involved in the team. It’s been awesome!”
