Seven-time MotoGP champion signs with Ducati for 2027 and 2028
Marc Marquez will continue with the Ducati Lenovo Team for another two seasons after Ducati Corse confirmed the #93 for 2027 and 2028. The agreement extends a partnership that delivered an extraordinary turnaround in 2025, when Marquez claimed his seventh MotoGP World Championship and his first title as a Ducati rider.
That 2025 campaign was one of the standout seasons of his career. Marquez wrapped up the championship in Japan after racking up 14 Tissot Sprint victories and 11 Grand Prix wins, while also setting the all-time record for most points scored in a single season. The title marked a remarkable return to the top and underlined the impact of his first year in Ducati colours.

His 2026 season has taken a different path. An injury-disrupted start left him chasing ground, but consecutive victories at Balaton Park and Brno have brought him closer to the front again. The win in Hungary carried extra weight, becoming the Ducati Lenovo Team’s 100th victory in MotoGP and Marquez’s 100th win across all classes during Ducati’s centenary year in 2026.
Marquez’s signing is the most crucial domino to fall in the 2027 rider market. While he was always expected to re-sign with Ducati, he had been hesitant to extend his contract until he understood how his body would perform after his most recent surgeries. With the new 850cc rules to come in next year the relative strength of the manufacturers could change, but not many would bet against Ducati nailing the new regulations, as they did last time the capacity limit started with an 8. The move provides Marquez with stability and continuity as he sets about chasing down even more records – perhaps even Rossi and Agostini’s career win benchmarks which stand at 115 and 122 respectively.

Marc Marquez: “I’m red. I’m truly happy with this new agreement with the Ducati Lenovo Team and to continue being part of this family. When I decided to join Ducati, I was convinced it was the most competitive project. They believed in me, and we built a relationship based on trust and hard work. With this renewal, they have once again reaffirmed this commitment, respecting my times and giving me the peace of mind I needed to make the right decision. In our first year together, we fought for the title and won it: a priceless result that confirms that the path we had chosen was the right one. I continue to compete because I love this sport and I want to achieve even more ambitious goals. I’m convinced this is the right place to do it. As long as I’m here, I’ll give my all to paint the future red.”
Luigi Dall’Igna, General Manager of Ducati Corse: “Trust, the relationship between Ducati and Marc starts here. He was looking for us first, he chose us then, and today we are happy to say that we are planning a future—more red than rosy—together. Marc has always put his passion, his motivation, and his true competitive spirit above all else in the choices that guided his experience with the Ducati Lenovo Team. He placed his trust in the entire Team: this filled us with pride and motivated us to always give our all to support him. As an engineer, working with Marc has impressed me. He brought the Desmosedici GP to peak performances, enhancing every component. The ambitions remain unchanged, and I am happy to be able to live, both sportingly and personally, a new chapter in this Ducati story together with Marc.”
Claudio Domenicali, CEO Ducati Motor Holding: “The renewal with Marc for the 2027 and 2028 seasons represents the most natural choice after the incredible results we achieved together in his first season in red. He brought into a winning Team a mentality that is, if possible, even more determined and an extraordinary competitive spirit. Marc, besides being an extraordinary talent, perfectly represents the Ducati mentality, made of great dedication and sacrifice but also of harmony within the Team and the ability to be great professionals even in a playful and serene atmosphere. Continuing together means giving continuity to a successful project and therefore facing the upcoming seasons with the ambition to keep Ducati at the top of MotoGP.”
