TRIUMPH DAYTONA 660 HERE SOON | MANUFACTURER NEWS

An all-new Triumph Daytona 660 will land in Australia soon in both full-power and LAMS versions.

Triumph has revealed an all-new Daytona 660 midsize sportsbike set to hit Aussie showrooms in March at $14,790 ride away.

The Daytona 660 is powered by an evolution of the brand’s 660cc triple engine, in full-power tune now producing a claimed 70kW at 11,250rpm and 69Nm at 8250rpm, with 80 percent of torque available from just 3125rpm. Peak power and torque are up 17 per cent and nine per cent respectively on the Trident 660 model.

The LAMS version of the new Daytona 660 will be restricted to 42kW and 62Nm.

According to Triumph, the Daytona’s modest 810mm seat height, narrow stand-over and optimised ’bar and ’peg positions are aimed at delivering a confidence-inspiring ride. Wet weight is 201kg.

The Daytona 660 runs a 41mm Showa upside down big piston fork and Showa preload adjustable monoshock, along with radial four-piston brakes with twin 310mm discs and braided brake lines and Michelin Power 6 rubber. It features three riding modes (Sport, Road and Rain) that optimise throttle response and traction control settings to suit conditions, plus there’s a new Emergency Deceleration Warning system that activates the hazard lights to alert other road users during heavy braking.

The new model features the nameplate’s unmistakeable Daytona design DNA with distinctive twin LED headlights, a central air intake and minimal bodywork.

“The 660 has all the attitude and agility you’d expect from the Daytona name, and brings with it the thrilling, useable, real-world performance and all-day comfort that riders today are looking for. We are excited by the impact the Daytona 660 is going to have on the growing middleweight sports world,” Steve Sargent, Triumph’s Chief Product Officer said.

The Daytona 660 features a six-speed gearbox and a Torque Assist clutch for a progressive, light lever action with a span-optimised clutch lever for better reach. The clutch design is also said to improve rear-wheel control under hard deceleration for smooth, confident corner entry. Triumph’s Shift Assist is available as an optional extra for clutch-less up and down shifts.

The dash consists a colour TFT screen integrated into a white-on-black LCD display that is compatible with the My Triumph Connectivity System enabling turn-by-turn navigation plus phone and music interaction.

Along with more than 30 accessories, an optional low seat will be available, lowering the seat height by 25mm to just 785mm. Other genuine accessories will include heated grips, an under-seat USB socket and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). A tank bag and tail pack are also available, adding 20 litres of stylish carrying capacity.
