Sofuoglu Wins Again | SPORT | WSBK

In the last WorldSSP race before the long summer break Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) was the eventual winner, with Federico Caricasulo (BARDAHL Evan Bros. Honda Racing) second and long time race leader PJ Jacobsen (Honda World Supersport Team) third. This was Sofuoglu’s fourth race win of 2016.

The pace of the top three took them almost ten seconds ahead of the chasing Gino Rea (GRT Racing Team MV Agusta), who overhauled Randy Krummenacher (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) and remained ahead at the line.

Sixth, and nearly 18 seconds behind Sofuoglu, was the first official MV of Lorenzo Zanetti (MV Agusta Reparto Corse). Alex Baldolini (Race Department ATK#25 MV Agusta) was just behind, with Axel Bassani (San Carlo Team Italia Kawasaki) and Luke Stapleford (Profile Racing Triumph) just behind. Christoffer Bergman (CIA Landlord Insurance Honda) rounded out the top ten after Kyle Smith (CIA Landlord Insurance Honda) was forced out with a technical problem.

As the top three riders made their final moves in the last few laps, Sofuoglu passed Caricasulo when the young rider ran wide on lap 15, finding himself 0.8 seconds behind leader Jacobsen. Sofuoglu and Caricasulo closed in on the American and Sofuoglu passed on lap 18, with Caricasulo also going past in the final lap.

Jules Cluzel (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) did not finish after a dramatic race when he was hit and dropped back from his top five position early on, and then crashed out later, no scoring.

Potential top five-man Alessandro Zaccone (San Carlo Team Italia Kawasaki) also did not score, pulling into the pits, while Christian Gamarino (Team GOELEVEN Kawasaki) crashed with five to go.

In the points Sofuoglu has 146, Krummenacher has 106 and Jacobsen 92.
