Marquez makes a statement, Miller fastest Yamaha
Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) hit the ground running in Buriram, putting in a late flyer to top the timesheets by 0.465 seconds—his first P1 in a test since Jerez 2020. Brother Alex was second fastest, with Franco Morbidelli continuing his promising form on the Pertamina VR46 Ducati in third. Marco Bezzecchi impressed on the Aprilia, finishing fourth overall.
Ducati’s 2025 engine decision remains crucial, with Francesco Bagnaia and Marquez both leaning towards retaining the proven GP24 unit. Bagnaia was seventh, while rookie Ai Ogura (Trackhouse) took P14, narrowly ahead of fellow debutant Fermin Aldeguer (Gresini).
KTM saw Pedro Acosta shine, taking P5 and dipping into the 1:29s. His Sprint simulation was notably quicker than teammate Brad Binder, who finished P8. Over at Tech3, Enea Bastianini and Maverick Viñales struggled, placing P15 and P18, with Miguel Oliveira (Prima Pramac Yamaha) in between.
Yamaha’s best result came from Jack Miller (P9), ahead of Alex Rins (P11) and Fabio Quartararo (P12). Their engine progress remains a key question for Day 2.
Honda had a breakthrough, with Johann Zarco joining the 1:29 club—faster than Honda has ever been in Thailand.
