Italian rider comes from the fourth row to win fierce five-way battle in Misano opener

Stefano Manzi (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) won a five rider battle for the WorldSSP Race One victory, despite starting from the fourth row of the grid.

He soon overturned his tenth place launch, and once in the leading pack he used all his experience in the final few corners to cross the line with half a second of a winning advantage in hand.

Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing VerdNatura Ducati), who was on pole, finished second after coming out top in a final lap fight with third placed Can Öncü (Yamaha bLU cRU Evan Bros Racing).

Valentin Debise (Renzi Corse Ducati) missed out on a podium by just 0.055 seconds, with Tom Booth-Amos (PTR Triumph Factory Racing) the final rider in the leading group. The leading five riders finished within 1.783 seconds of each other.

Marcel Schrötter (WRP Racing Ducati) was sixth, just holding off the upwardly mobile Jeremy Alcoba (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team). The Kawasaki rider had started 13th but finished seventh.

Lucas Mahias (GMT94-Yamaha) was another on the charge through all 18-laps, having started 15th but finishing eighth.

The top ten was completed by Federico Caricasulo (D34G WorldSSP Racing Team Ducati) and Philipp Öttl (Feel Racing WorldSSP Team Ducati).
