Ducati gun edges out Mike Jones by just 0.078s in tense ASBK qualifying session

In an ultra-competitive Superbike qualifying session, it was Josh Waters who set the pace, storming to pole position with a lap of 1:12.354s. Waters’ pole time came on the first lap of his second flying run and gave him a comfortable gap to the rest of the field to that point, but Jones lit up the timing screens near the end of the session, eventually missing out by less than a tenth of a second. Jones’ quickest sectors combined would have put him at the front of the grid, but Waters’ superiority in the second sector was enough to clinch top spot.

Anthony West (Addicted to Track Yamaha) claimed an strong third position with a 1:12.774s, ahead of Broc Pearson in P4 with a 1:12.787s aboard the DesmoSport Ducati. Fifth went to Jack Favelle (Yamaha), while teammate Jonathan Nahlous also put in a strong performance in sixth.

Yamaha’s strong presence continued through the top 10, with Max Stauffer (P7), Cameron Dunker (P8), and John Lytras (P9) all breaking into the 1:13s. Glenn Allerton (Ducati) completed the top ten.

Waters put in a great lap but Jones is the current lap record holder and looks to have strong, consistent pace leading into tomorrow’s races, and West can never be discounted either.
