Historic Nationals Symmons Plains | SPORT

Friday saw the first day of the Australian Historic Championships at Symmons Plains Raceway in Tasmania with some hotly contested qualifying times produced in all of the fourteen well supported classes.

Chas Hern riding the TRex FJ110 Yamaha and Mal Campbell on is RC30 Honda put in some very quick times in preparation for tomorrow’s Unlimited New Era Championship heats.

Hot contender for the Classic Unlimited title Garth Francis was forced to withdraw with a snapped crankshaft in his 750 Norton and Lachlan Hill made an unexpected firey departure from the Forgotten Era 250 Class crashing at the Bus Stop that saw him later transported to hospital for further observation.

Tom Bramich on the Ron Angel prepared Paton was unstoppable recording consistent, electric times all day and the three wheeled brigade were headed up with impressive performances by Bruce and Graham Marston on their Harley and Garth Francis / Paul Kenny on their Norton.

P4 Post Classic Outfits were limited by a few mishaps seeing Lindsay Donai / Christine Menzies on their 110 Steve Reilly Honda ahead of Max Hooper / Brad Gorrie on their Windle Honda.
