Jack Miller (Alma Pramac Racing) had a difficult rookie campaign in MotoGP after moving up straight from the lightweight class, but a few seasons later and the Australian has now really hit his stride. Some flashes of brilliance for the Queenslander – including THAT incredible win at Assen – have now become an awesome run of consistent top tens; eight in a row on last count before the Gran Premio d’Italia Oakley.
“It’s been nice to be in the top ten in the last eight races,” says Miller, whose run goes back to the end of 2017 – on a different bike. “I think it’s eight. But of course, we want more! I was known in the past as one of the most inconsistent riders so it’s nice to have this consistency. It’s something I’ve been working really hard on so I’m really happy.”
That hard work has paid off and two top four finishes, including last time out at Le Mans, set him up well for the next GP at Mugello – the team’s home race and somewhere that was conquered in 2017 by the same GP17 machinery Miller is on this year.
“I’m really excited for Mugello, after a great Spanish GP and French GP it’s nice to come here with some good shape and form. I feel we’re coming closer to the front step by step and we’ve seen in the past that the GP17 has worked well at this track so I’m looking forward to trying to do my best and bring the bike home – hopefully in the top five…”
