Expressions of interest are now open for Honda’s new sports tourer, with the first units arriving later this year packing panniers and heated grips as standard
Honda Australia has confirmed the new 2026 CB1000GT for the local market, with the sports tourer due to officially arrive in late 2026. Expressions of interest are now open for riders hoping to secure the first Australian-delivered bikes, with initial units expected to arrive later this year.
First shown at EICMA 2025, the CB1000GT is Honda’s latest take on the sports touring formula, pairing litre-bike performance with the sort of comfort and practicality aimed at longer distances.
Power comes from a 1000cc inline four derived from the CBR1000RR Fireblade, with claimed outputs of 110kW and 102Nm. Honda says the engine has been tuned to better suit touring use, with smoother throttle response designed to reduce rider fatigue and make the bike easier to live with over long days in the saddle. Fuel injection and Throttle by Wire are also aimed at delivering more manageable performance across the rev range.
The CB1000GT also brings a strong electronics and chassis package, with Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment suspension, Cornering ABS and what Honda describes as a premium braking setup. Claimed weight is 229kg excluding panniers, and Honda says the bike’s narrow profile, chassis geometry and weight distribution are intended to deliver sporty handling without compromising touring stability.
Touring equipment is generous, with standard detachable panniers along with cruise control, heated grips, hand guards, a centre stand and a five-position adjustable windscreen. There is also a five-inch TFT display with Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity, integrated navigation and USB-C charging.
“The 2026 CB1000GT combines the performance and character that riders love from Honda’s 1000cc sports motorcycles with the comfort, technology and practicality needed for sports touring,” said Chris Schultz, General Manager – Powersports and Products at Honda Australia. “The CB1000GT strikes the perfect balance between sports bike excitement and genuine touring capability, making it a great fit for Australian riders and roads.”
Australian bikes will be offered in Grand Prix Red, while local pricing, final specifications and accessory details are still to be confirmed closer to launch.
