A new top-spec SP version of the Ducati Monster will go on sale early next year.
Ducati expands the Monster range with an all new SP version.
The new SP version is designed to give even bigger thrills with greater performance and MotoGP-inspired livery. The SP will be the highest-spec model in the Ducati Monster line-up.
Enhanced components and performance
The SP model features quality components for greater performance and handling including Öhlins suspension, Brembo front calipers, Termignoni silencer, Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, steering damper and lithium-ion battery. The SP model also gets recalibrated electronic controls and riding modes for more precise and “sharper” handling.
More power
The Testastretta 11° engine is the chosen powerplant for the Monster SP, a liquid-cooled 4-valve twin with 111hp and desmodromic distribution. Up front is an ultra lightweight compact aluminium frame fixed directly to the engine heads, inspired by the Panigale V4.
The already aggressive stance of the Monster is wrapped in MotoGP- and Panigale-inspired bodywork, trimmed with gold anodised Öhlins fork, red seat and that trick Termignoni silencer.
Less weight
Despite the addition of components such as the steering damper and the windshield, the SP is 2kg lighter than the standard model, the diet helped along by a light weight lithium-ion battery among other weight-saving components.
The racier and lighter Öhlins suspension is fully adjustable and increases maximum lean angle through added ground clearance.
The upgraded Brembo calipers and light-weight aluminium flanges for the 320mm front brake discs don’t just increase the stopping power but also reduce inertia for added front-end response.
Mad Electronics
In addition to the enhanced steering damper and sticky Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, the electronics see a recalibration of Riding Modes, and controls, to make the most of the updated chassis. The Sport, Touring and Wet Riding Modes can be managed through the handlebar controls and menu on the colour dash featuring a large tacho and gear indicator.
The new electronics package includes ABS Cornering, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Wheelie Control, which are all adjustable, and for all the times you’ve thought “I wish I had launch control”, yep, it has that too.
The Ducati Monster SP is expected to arrive in dealerships January 2023.
