AMCN Winter Jacket Drive | EVENTS

Some of the pile of motorcycle jackets donated by AMCN readers have been delivered to Brett Fahey, the Mission Australia Regional Leader for the Illawarra & South Coast area. Brett has graciously offered the Wollongong Mission Australia office as a drop-off point for riders in the Illawarra area wanting to donate a jacket, or those wanting to combine a donation with a mid-week ride to the picturesque seaside city. The office location is 88 Swan St Wollongong, which is easy to access and has plenty of bike parking right at the front door.  If you do drop off a jacket to the team in Wollongong don’t forget to leave your details and shirt size in the pocket of the jacket so we can get a Gassit Pack to you.

Brett explained some of the drug and alcohol services provided in his region and said that Triple Care Farm, a youth detox and rehabilitation service is located in Robertson which is bitterly cold this time of year. “Sometimes we have clients turn up wearing little more than thongs, shorts and a T-shirt,” he said. “That’s all the possessions they have, so to be able to get them into a warming motorcycle jacket designed to protect against the cold and wet conditions Robertson is famous for will be a huge help.”

There’s still at least a few more months of wintery temperatures ahead for the Illawarra and Southern Highlands regions, so if you have a jacket to donate please drop it into the Wollongong Mission Australia office or here for a list of drop-off and delivery options.
