Jeremy Mc Williams has been confirmed as the third of four big-name riders who will lead their respective nations in the 2018 International Challenge as part of the AMCN International Island Classic on the Australia Day long weekend in January.

The 2018 event will be the 53-year-old Northern Irishman’s eighth consecutive Island Classic, having joined the fray back in 2011.

He led the UK team to victory in 2015, breaking Australia’s 10-year winning streak, and has kept the title ever since.

McWilliams has been the recipient of the Ken Wootton Perpetual Trophy on four occasions – 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017 – and since 2011 has converted his 28 International Challenge starts into an impressive 24 podiums. This has consisted of eight wins, 13 second-place finishes and three third places.

As a testament to McWilliams’ skill and consistency, he has never failed to finish an International Challenge race.

Two former World Superbike champions, Aussie Troy Corser and American Colin Edwards, have been confirmed as team leaders for the Australian and American teams.

With no Irish team this year, only the New Zealand team leader is yet to be announced.

Fifteen-time world champion Giacomo Agostini has also been confirmed as the event’s special guest, and he will perform demonstration laps on some title-winning MV Agusta finery.
