Harley-Davidson rider dominates the weekend with new lap record and back-to-back wins, while Herfoss fights hard for crucial championship points
Kyle Wyman delivered a dominant performance at Laguna Seca over the weekend, sweeping both races and the Mission Challenge sprint to extend his lead in the 2025 MotoAmerica Mission King of the Baggers Championship. The Harley-Davidson® x Dynojet Factory Team rider now holds a commanding 76-point advantage in the title chase.

Reigning Baggers champion Troy Herfoss battled at the sharp end in both races, narrowly missing out on a podium in Race 1 before finishing fifth in Race 2.
In Saturday’s opener, Wyman grabbed pole with a blistering new lap record of 1:27.524 around the famed 2.238-mile (3.6km) Laguna Seca circuit. He converted his pace into victory despite an early challenge from RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson’s Hayden Gillim, whose mechanical issues brought out a red flag.

On the restart, a fierce four-way battle broke out between Wyman, Herfoss, Herfoss’ teammate Loris Baz, and Harley-Davidson’s Rocco Landers. Herfoss made a brave move on Baz in the infamous Corkscrew on the final lap but ran wide, which allowed Landers to sneak through into third. Wyman took the win over Baz, with Landers third and Herfoss ultimately finishing fourth – a frustrating result after showing podium pace all race.
Sunday’s race again saw Herfoss a constant threat. This time, he kept close contact with early leaders Wyman and Gillim, with teammate Baz heat in the hunt before both Baz and Harley ECU development rider Bradley Smith ran wide halfway through the race.

Gillim and Wyman held their positions until the final lap, when Gillim’s bike lost power descending the Corkscrew. Wyman capitalised and cruised to the win. Landers again finished runner-up, with Indian’s Tyler O’Hara completing the podium. Herfoss finished just off the box in fourth but added another bag of crucial points to his consistent season.
Wyman has been in blistering form for Harley-Davidson in 2025, leading the championship with 186 points. Baz is second on 110, with Herfoss hot on his heels in third on 104 points.
The King of the Baggers series will resume on August 15-17 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Herfoss remains well and truly in title contention, and Australian fans can expect a potential breakthrough win is just around the corner.
Kyle Wyman – “Obviously (patience) played a huge role for me today. Hayden’s been riding well all weekend. It’s such a shame for him, he deserves to be on the box probably yesterday and today. I’m just so happy for the Harley-Davidson team to be having the year we’re having. When you work hard at something, good things can happen, and you’ve got to just keep chugging.”
