Kawasaki’s new H2 SX SE – Putting the sport into sportstourer

Kawasaki's new H2 SX SE supercharged tourer is now on sale in Australia and AMCN is presently road testing the new bike.

Powered by a 998cc inline-four cylinder engine, it’s considerable 147.1kW (200hp) of claimed peak power is facilitated by a different type of supercharger than its high performance namesake.

According to the Japanese brand, it makes for a lighter engine and, important for a tourer, a far cooler engine, too.The trellis frame needed to be reengineered to accomodate the passenger and the panniers and with significantly improved fuel efficiency, the 19-litre fuel tank is cited as offering great touring range.

The up-spec SE model, which is the only version available in Australia, boasts the premium black and green paint scheme as well as a quickshifter, launch control and the brand’s first-ever TFT colour instrument panel. This is in addition to the bevy of electronic rider aids, such as corner brake control, traction and wheel lift control, engine brake control, ABS, switchable power modes, cruise control and LED cornering lights, which are built into the front of the fairing side panels and activated by a lean-angle sensor.
