Maria Herrera kicked off her WorldWCR season in style, claiming Superpole at Assen to secure the top spot on the grid for Saturday’s opening race.
After Maria Herrera (Klint Forward Racing Team) just missed out on the inaugural WorldWCR title last year, she started her second season in perfect form, with a Superpole ‘win’ to take into the first race on Saturday.
She was finally 0.218 seconds ahead of fellow Spaniard Beatriz Neila (Ampito Crescent Yamaha) and 1.1 seconds up on Sara Sanchez (Terra & Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR Team).
The talented Avalon Lewis (Carl Cox Motorsports) was fourth quickest, from two of 2024’s proven podium riders, Roberta Ponziani (Klint Forward Racing Team) and Tayla Relph (TAYCO Motorsports).
The third row of the Race One grid will be headed by British rider Chloe Jones (GR Motorsport), with Isis Carreno (Italika Racing FIMLA) and Lucy Michel (TSL-Racing) alongside.
Americans Mallory Dobbs (MKD Racing Team) and Sonya Lloyd (Team Trasimeno) placed 20th and 21st after Superpole qualifying.
