Toprak Blazes to Fourth Superpole of the Season

BMW ace sets new lap record in red-flagged Hungarian qualifying session ahead of Sam Lowes and Locatelli

Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) reasserted his pre-race dominance in WorldSBK by taking his fourth Superpole ‘win’ of the year, and the 22nd of his career.

A red flag near the end of the Superpole session brought action to a halt and made for a frantic last few minutes during the restart, in which Razgatlioglu was to finish 0.477 seconds up on fastest rider on Friday, Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team Ducati).

Razgatlioglu’s new track best is a 1’38.357. It is not a lap record, as such, as that record has to be set during a race.

The last rider on the front row for Race One will be Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha), making it three different brands in the top three places.

Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) improved on his Friday ranking to finish fourth in Superpole, with Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team Ducati) and top Honda rider, Iker Lecuona (Honda HRC) joining him on the second row.

Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) and Andrea Iannone (Team Pata GoEleven Ducati) added two more Ducati irons to the front-running fire, before Xavi Vierge (Honda HRC) and Jonathan Rea (Pata Maxus Yamaha) completed the top ten.

Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) was the top bimota rider in 12th position, one place behind Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team). Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) took the lone Ninja to 14th place on the grid.
