Regulation changes clear electric motocrosser for take off in all Aussie MX and Enduro competitions bar Supercross
In a significant step forward for Australian off-road racing, the Stark VARG has officially been approved for competition in both the Australian Motocross (MX) and Enduro Championships. This marks a pivotal moment not only for the brand behind the motorcycle but also for the broader integration of electric technology into competitive motorsport.
Now listed in the 2025 Electric Motorcycle Approved Competition List, the VARG is eligible to compete across a range of categories. In motocross, it can race in the MX1, MX2, and MX3 classes, while in enduro, it is approved for classes including E1, E2, E3, and junior categories J1 and J2. Boasting various performance configurations, the electric motorcycle is permitted to push its limits at 80 horsepower in Open Classes or utilise a 48-horsepower setting in categories such as MX2 and E2.
This development has been facilitated by Motorcycling Australia (MA), which is increasingly adapting its regulations to accommodate advancing technology. By aligning with progressive technical standards, MA has made steps towards embracing electric motorcycles within the framework of traditional competition.
The approval signals a growing acceptance of electric bikes in mainstream motorsport and represents a potential shift in the dynamics of off-road racing in Australia. With its inclusion, competitors now have the opportunity to explore broader options in the rapidly evolving landscape of motorbike racing.
Appendix D: Technical Standards and Requirements
