Strong, unpredictable winds force organisers to call off final race of the 2025 Isle of Man TT
The Milwaukee Senior TT that was intended to run on Saturday, 7th June at 19:00 was cancelled due to racing conditions being deemed unsuitable.
Earlier in the day, showers and wet road surfaces led to a delayed schedule, but the final race of the 2025 Isle of Man TT Races — the esteemed Milwaukee Senior TT — was still planned to commence at 19:00 that evening.
Weather around the course began to improve as solo riders embarked on a Course Inspection Lap at 18:00. However, upon their return, several competitors expressed concerns about track conditions.
After discussions with multiple riders, Gary Thompson, Clerk of the Course, made the decision to cancel the race, citing strong winds blowing in an unusual direction compared to the rest of the TT fortnight as the key reason why conditions were not safe for competition.
In his statement, Gary Thompson BEM MBE, Clerk of the Course, said:
“It was clear, after speaking with a number of competitors from across the field following the Course Inspection Lap, that conditions were not where they needed to be.
“A couple of competitors said they’d be happy to ride to the conditions, but the overwhelming majority felt that the wind speeds – the way they were gusting, and the fact they were coming from the opposite direction to what they had experienced over the past two weeks – made the conditions too unpredictable and not fit for racing.
“Delaying or cancelling any qualifying session or race is never an easy decision. Of course, in situations like this, the prestige and profile of the Senior TT naturally come to mind, but there are far more important matters at stake. Ultimately, we’re here to deliver the event in the safest possible manner – and unfortunately, that simply wasn’t achievable this evening.
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone, particularly the marshals, medics, officials, volunteers, and competitors for their patience and co-operation throughout a challenging event.”

Michael Dunlop leaves the event with a record 33 wins at the event, having taken victory in both Supersport and Supertwin races, and setting a 123.056mph lap record in the second Supertwin race. Dean Harrison won both Superstock races, while Davey Todd took the top step in the Superbike TT. Ryan and Callum Crowe dominated the Sidecars, winning both races by over a minute to their nearest competitors.
Fans were robbed of seeing a showdown between Dunlop and Hickman following the NorthWest 200 drama, after the latter had a heavy crash at the fast Kerrowmoar section, ruling him out for the rest of the event.
Despite many riders suffering injuries, including an incident where Mark Parrett had his left arm broken by an errant seagull in Superstock Race 2, the 2025 Isle of Man has the happy distinction of having no recorded fatalities.
