A new Royal Enfield Bear spotted in woods? Not quite, but more than a year ago Royal Enfield applied for rights to the name ‘Interceptor 650 Bear’ and now the first image has emerged via design registration documents.

It shows the frame and the engine are straight from the Interceptor, although its new exhaust could change the power delivery. The petrol tank also appears the same, but the seat is revised and sits above race-style number boards.

The suspension is perplexing. The twin rear shocks don’t have the remote reservoir design of the Interceptor, which would suggest these are lower-spec parts, but at the front there’s an upside-down fork.

The Interceptor’s twin instruments are swapped for a single dial that looks the same as the Guerrilla 450’s. An official launch can’t be far away.
