Waters takes comfortable victory ahead of West and Jones
The first ASBK race of 2025 is in the books, with Josh Waters leading from start to finish in scalding conditions. Waters nailed the start and led into turn 1, while Anthony West had clutch trouble off the line which gave him an early deficit to make up.
Waters’ pace on the Ducati was superior in clear air though, which meant West and Jones would be left dicing for 2nd and 3rd for most of the race. In a closely fought contest West eventually came out on top when Jones made a desperate lunge into MG but ran slightly wide, allowing West to come back through. From there Jones shadowed West to the finish, eventually crossing the line just 17 hundredths of a second behind. West noted after the race that tyre wear was a big issue.
Nearly ten seconds further back, Glen Allerton finished 4th on his V4R Ducati, just edging out Broc Pearson on the DesmoSport Ducati.
