Öhlins sale deal sealed

US giant Tenneco has closed its $A200m deal to incorporate Swedish suspension company Öhlins into its worldwide operations.

Tenneco is one of the world’s largest OEM manufacturers of suspension parts and technology. At one time it owned the Marzocchi brand.

“Öhlins is an integral part of what will become our new Aftermarket and Ride Performance company. Its premium technology and brand reputation will strengthen our OE and aftermarket portfolios while enhancing our position in the global advanced suspension systems space. This transaction is yet another example of our strategy to leverage key technologies that will better position Tenneco to take advantage of secular trends in intelligent suspension, autonomous driving and mobility,” said Brian Kesseler, co-CEO, Tenneco.

Öhlins was started by motocross engineer Kenth Öhlin in 1976 and has become a leading innovator in motorcycle suspension technology. The integration should result in a lot of cross-pollination of car, motorcycle and bicycle suspension technology.
