The historic Italian marque has completed a massive upgrade to its Lake Como headquarters
After five years of work and an $A80m investment, Moto Guzzi has opened its redeveloped factory headquarters in Italy.
Sited on the same Lake Como site where Moto Guzzi was founded in 1921, the new facility combines a state-of-the-art motorcycle factory capable of producing 30,000 motorcycles a year, an expanded museum and new visitor spaces.
The new production facility features automated engine assembly lines and a fully robotic conveyor system connecting engine and final motorcycle assembly.
Sustainability has also been a focus, with the facility incorporating 1300 square metres of photovoltaic panels and extensive natural lighting at the site.
History has also been preserved with Moto Guzzi’s famous red entrance on Via Parodi remaining, the gateway used by workers, engineers and riders since 1921.
Alongside the factory is a large new Moto Guzzi Museum, housing more than 160 restored motorcycles spanning the marque’s storied 105-year history.
