Quad Lock Honda rider seals the AUSX SX1 title with wins in both Adelaide mains, Ryder Kingsford wins SX2, and Kayd Kingsford takes the SX3 crown

Dean Wilson signed off a commanding SX1 campaign with a flawless Adelaide Grand Final, winning both mains to lock down the 2025 title and put a red ribbon on Honda Australia’s eighth straight premier-class championship. The Quad Lock Honda rider arrived with a hefty points buffer and immediately set the tone in Race 1, controlling proceedings to the chequered flag ahead of Luke Clout and Mitchell Harrison, with Hayden Mellross and Aaron Tanti banking strong points in fourth and fifth. He did it again in Race 2 on Sunday, pulling clear of Aron Tanti to win by 5 seconds, with Wlsh third, Nicoletti fourth and Mellross fifth.

Those results capped a season that Honda utterly dominated: all ten SX1 finals fell to red—eight to Wilson and two to Jett Lawrence—while Wilson banked four round wins and finished second at the other. It was a campaign built on precision and courage, threaded with raw emotion after Wilson raced through profound personal hardship with the loss of his mother early in the season.

“I went 8 out of 10 finals, it was amazing, so stoked to win especially after everything I went through. I don’t win like I use to, so I cherish the wins we do get. That’s some of my best riding. I was locked in. Life is short, you have to give it your all, and you also have to have fun. Next year will be my fifth season with the team. I don’t know which championship we’ll race yet, but I feel at home with Honda.”

Cedric Soubeyras made it a Honda 1–2 for the year with a gutsy runner-up finish in the standings, remarkably racing the finale with four cracked ribs, while KTM rider Hayden Mellross rounded out the championship podium after a season defined by consistency and grit.

“This was one of the hardest weekends of my 25-year career. Breathing was difficult, I felt sick, and I couldn’t take much pain relief. But the team, the experience, everything was amazing. I’m proud of my riding and the result. I hope to return next year, and if I do, I’ll come earlier to prepare properly”, said Cedric Soubeyras

SX2: Kingsford claims the title as Dennis and Larwood split Adelaide finals

Ryder Kingsford wrapped the DeWalt SX2 Championship after banking vital points across both Adelaide mains, with the weekend’s race wins shared. On Saturday, Byron Dennis edged a razor-thin thriller in Race 1, beating Alex Larwood and Kingsford to the line, with Rhys Budd fourth and Jake Cannon fifth. Sunday swung Larwood’s way as the South Australian controlled Race 2 to win from Budd and Cannon, with Kingsford fourth and Dennis fifth. The combined Adelaide haul confirmed Kingsford as 2025 SX2 champion, Larwood as runner-up and Budd third overall.

Speaking after his Race 2 victory, Larwood said, “It’s tough. I’ve had a lot of injuries throughout my career, and I made too many mistakes early on because I was being cautious. This weekend I proved to myself that I can win races, I just need to do it more consistently if I want to win a championship.”

SX3: KAYD KINGSFORD CONQUERS CHAOS TO SEAL THE TITLE

The Protraxx SX3 Championship produced a wild, high-pressure showdown across two mains, with the title swinging repeatedly in front of thousands of roaring motorsport fans.

Ryder Malinoski entered the day with a four-point advantage, but Main Event 1 immediately set the tone for the afternoon. Despite starting inside the top three, Malinoski faded behind his championship rivals as Kayd Kingsford unleashed a clutch, must-win ride, taking the race victory and dragging the championship into a deadlock with Jack Deveson heading into the final main of the year.

Main Event 2 was where champions are made, and Kingsford delivered again. Launching to a perfect holeshot, Kingsford controlled the race from wire to wire, executing a flawless ride under maximum pressure to secure his first SX3 Championship, a statement victory to close out a breakout season.

KTM SX85 FUTURES: BLAKE BOHANON FIGHTS THROUGH ADVERSITY TO CLAIM THE CROWN

The KTM SX85 Futures finals delivered pure heart, grit, and high drama as the next generation of supercross talent put on a show worthy of Championship Sunday.

Series leader Blake Bohanon entered the first main with a commanding 30-point advantage, seemingly one hand already on the trophy. But supercross had other ideas. A heavy crash through one of the rhythm lanes left Bohanon scrambling to remount and salvage crucial points, surrendering 11 points to hard-charging challenger Ollie Birkett, who kept the title hopes alive.

Main Event 2 added another layer of adversity. Riding with a strapped-up thumb from the earlier crash, Bohanon was taken down again in Turn 2. The young Queenslander dug deep, remounting once more and charging forward with a champion’s determination.

His recovery ride secured enough points to finally clinch the 2025 KTM SX85 Futures Championship, ahead of Birkett in second and Luis Cannon in third. A gutsy, hard-earned title for one of Australia’s rising stars.

Final KTM Futures 85cc Championship Results:
1. Blake Bohanon – 2025 85cc Champion
2. Ollie Birkett – Second overall
3. Luis Cannon – Third overall
