Bulega clears off to commanding victory ahead of Locatelli

Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) capitalised on his start from the front row of the grid to ease away from the chasing pack and take the opening WorldSBK race win of the Assen weekend. He finished a vast 7.801 seconds up on second place rider, Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha).

Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team Ducati) played the long game well to pass one-time second place rider Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) with two laps to go, taking his own first podium of 2025 and relegating Razgatlioglu to a surprise off-podium fourth spot.

A multiple rider fight for fifth place saw Iker Lecuona (Honda HRC) at its head at the end of 21 laps, with his team-mate Xavi Vierge (Honda HRC) sixth, Dominique Aegerter (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) seventh and Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) eighth.

Local rider Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) was ninth and Scott Redding (MGM BONOVO Racing Ducati) a relatively distant tenth.

Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) lost the front early in the race and took out Superpole fastest rider Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team Ducati) in the process.

Both bimota riders were to fall, with Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) restarting to finish 11th but Axel Bassani (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) no-scoring.

Two more WorldSBK races will be run at Assen on Sunday 13 April.
