CFMOTO 700CL-X SPORT DETAILS REVEALED | MANUFACTURER NEWS

The CFMOTO 700CL-X Sport is set to go on sale in October at just $10,490 ride away

The second iteration in CFMOTO’s all-new modern-classic family, the 700CL-X Sport, will go on sale in Australia in early October 2021 for a sensational $10,490 ride away.

Compared to the 700CL-X Heritage, which went on sale earlier this year, the 700CL-X Sport takes on a decidedly more aggressive stance: sticky 17-inch rubber, petal discs and twin Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers, while other unique features include a solo seat, clip-on handlebars, windshield and round bar-end mirrors.

The distinctive attributes of the Sport are beautifully mated to the core CL-X – ‘CL’ for Classic and ‘X’ for infinite possibilities – principles, headlined by the new 693cc parallel twin engine, light-weight chassis and sharp design.

The engine produces a claimed 55kW (73hp) 8500rpm and 68Nm at 6500rpm, and other technical highlights include Bosch fuel-injection, split connecting rods, a slipper clutch and forged pistons for extra strength and reduced weight and inertia.

Moreover, stress-free one-touch cruise control and multiple power modes – Eco and Sport – are unique to the mid-capacity road bike segment, as is the adjustable headlight.

The 700CL-X Sport has been styled by CFMOTO’s European design team, with the attention to detail adding to the eye-catching aesthetics. The neo-retro café racer design blends elements such as the round headlight and naked frame with modern traits such as the LED lighting, bar-end mirrors, aluminium side plates on the fuel tank and integrated air intake.

The 700CL-X Sport tracks on Maxxis tyres and the suspension is by KYB with a fully adjustable 41mm upside-down fork and monoshock rear with rebound and preload adjustment. Travel front and rear is 150mm.

The seat height is 795mm (5mm less than the Heritage) and, even with the clip-on handlebars, the 700CL-X Sport’s seating position isn’t too aggressive: a triumph of both form and function.

The Sport’s nimble stance is evident in the specs sheet: overall length is reduced by 110mm from the Heritage, and it sits 138mm lower.

Weight is just 205kg with a full tank of fuel, thanks to features such as the aluminium-alloy swingarm.

CFMOTO 700CL-X Sport

“The breakout year for CFMOTO in the full-power motorcycle ranks continues with the unveiling of the 700CL-X Sport,” said CFMOTO Australia director Michael Poynton.

“The initial response to the 700CL-X Heritage has been exceptionally positive, and we’re confident the 700CL-X Sport will also appeal to a wide range of riders with its striking looks, top-spec chassis and sensational value-packed proposition.

“Like the Heritage, the Sport offers a comfortable, fun, easy and relaxed ride, with a potent engine and an electronics package that is class-leading.

“The CL-X range, which will also include the Adventure variant in coming months, is the start of an exciting push by CFMOTO to enter new motorcycle segments – and that will continue with the much-anticipated KTM-engined 800MT adventure touring range.”
