Tom Phillis honoured | EVENTS

Australia’s 1961 125cc world champ Tom Phillis was honoured in his home suburb recently, forming part of a Sporting Walk of Honour as a result of a $3m upgrade to Marrickville Park in Sydney’s inner west. As a works Honda rider, Phillis was the first to win a world championship Grand Prix on a Japanese machine and the first Australian to record a GP double, both in 1961. Phillis’ wife Betty and daughter Debra attended the ceremony.
