SUPERBIKES HIT SOUTH AUSTRALIA | NEWS

If you’re looking for some action in Adelaide this weekend, get yourself out to Mallala for some bar-banging road racing excitement!

This weekend 28-29 May the Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship returns to Adelaide’s Mallala Motor Sport Park for round two of the six round national series. It’s South Australia’s only chance to see national level road racing competition up close in 2016, and last year’s ASC event saw some of the best racing of the season, with the Mallala circuit’s layout promoting a huge amount of passing opportunities, and excellent viewing for spectators.

The Superbike class is still wide open after the first round at Sydney Motorsport Park, with just 25 points and three different manufacturers covering the top five. 2013 ASC champion Kawasaki’s Matthew Walters leads the charge from YRT Yamaha rider Michael Blair, with the BC Performance Kawasaki pairing of Ben Burke and Robbie Bugden, and the LTR Honda of Paul Byrne all in with a shot at the Championship title.

As always with the Australasian Superbike series, there’s a full program of support races, including Supersport, Formula Oz, Pro-Twins and FX Ninja 300 Cup.

Practice and qualifying starts on Friday, with racing action across both Saturday and Sunday.

Entry is free for Friday’s practice. On the weekend, single-day adult entry is $30, while a two-day pass is only $40, and kids under 14 years get in free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Even if you can’t make it to the event, you can still catch all the action on live streaming at www.fxsuperbikes.com.au
