St George Motorcycle Club champions | SPORT

The St George Motorcycle Club have announced their road racing club champions for 2017, with Dean Hasler taking out major awards in the Unlimited Championship and BEARS class.

The 600cc Championship was won by Hayden Spinks, who said his favourite event of the season was the Wakefield round.

“The conditions were really patchy with wet spots everywhere. I really had to battle with Grant [Davis] to take the race win. That meeting taught us a lot about setting the bike up for mismatched conditions so it was definitely one of the better weekends.”

Andrew Edser picked up the Supersport 300 trophy after embarking on his first year of road racing. The 22-year-old engineering student from Maitland had ridden speedway bikes a few years ago, but decided to give the Supersport 300 class a try on his Kawasaki Ninja 300.

After securing the club title he said his main focus is now to get to the pointy end of the ASBK series.

Other class winners included David Broderick (400cc), Pat Griffin (125cc, 250cc and single cylinder), Grant Davis (600cc Clubsport), James Fruin (Unlimited Clubsport) and Travis Hall (Juniors).

Winners of non-championship events were Pat Griffin (600cc Retro), Michael McLean (Unlimited Retro) and Brian Bolster (700cc Twin Sprint).
