Neo Sport Concept appears as CB1000R in Milan | NEWS

Honda unleashes 2018 Supernaked

Following on from the Neo Sports Concept Honda unveiled at its native Tokyo Show two weeks ago, it has gone and announced a production version this week at the EICMA Show in Milan.

Powered by a retuned version of the 2017 Fireblade’s 998cc inline-four cylinder engine, the Japanese supernaked offers 106kW and more torque lower down in the rev range.

Boasting more metal than plastic, the CB1000R tips the scales at 212kg (wet), which is a good 17kg heavier than its sportsbike counterpart.

It boasts lower gearing than it though, which Honda claimed makes it accelerate quicker up to 130km/h, there’s a slipper clutch, a ride-by-wire throttle and ABS-equipped Tokico stoppers.

Honda will offer a CB1000R+ variant, which will include a quickshifter, heated grips, extra bodywork and a single seat cowl.
